We are proud to announce that Anton Hilfrich has been awarded the Winfried-Bierhals-Stiftungspreis 2025 of German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics (DGLR) for his outstanding Master’s thesis!

In his thesis, “Derivation of Design Guidelines for RQL Combustion Chamber Simulators based on Scale-Resolving Numerical Flow Simulations”, conducted at Institute for Gas Turbines and Aerospace Propulsion, Anton numerically explored how real combustor geometries of aeroengines influence turbulence generation under engine-representative conditions. By identifying the key flow parameters and geometry features driving turbulence intensity, his work provides specific guidelines for designing realistic turbulence generators for turbine testing.

Anton presented his work at this year’s German Aerospace Congress (DLRK) in Augsburg, where he was awarded the prize.

We are delighted that his outstanding academic achievements are being translated into effective scientific contributions to technical problem solving. Congratulations to Anton and the whole team for this remarkable achievement!
