Our institute provides different possibilities to engage in the field of turbomachinery and propulsion technology. The students are taught the theoretical knowledge in the lectures. We offer lectures on the basics as well as advanced lectures on the different components. Additionally, it is possible for students to acquire practical skills in tutorials, research seminars, and projects. These include experimental as well as numerical approaches to the subject. During final theses it is possible for students to work together with the research assistants in their projects on current subjects.

The institute’s lectures cover all thermodynamic, aerodynamic and aerothermal basics in turbomachinery.

In order to provide insights into the modern international engineering and research environment, GLR offers several projects in collaboration with international partners in academia and industry. Focus are interdisciplinary topics based on current research questions within the field of turbomachinery, e.g. aeroelasticity or next generation combustor-turbine systems. Besides others, the web-based projects combine theoretical knowledge of physical phenomena and the application of sophisticated tools for simulation and analysis, as well as modern communication methods.
